Dr. Richard Martin was born in Bryan, Texas. He moved to South Florida and graduated from high school in Hollywood, Florida. He then went on to Harvard University where he received his B.A. in Mathematics.Dr. Martin received his MD from the University of Florida’s College of Medicine. He was an intern in Internal Medicine at UF’s Shands Hospital and then was Resident in Medicine for two years, first at the New England Medical Center and then at Boston University Hospital in Boston. He was an ER doctor for the next 30 years in various facilities and hospitals across the country and the state to include Citrus Memorial Hospital for 5 years. For several years he took care of patients admitted to the hospital in Williston as well. Dr Martin passed the ABEM Board exam (Emergency Medicine) in 1991.
Prior to coming to PEDIM Healthcare he worked in a high-acuity urgent care clinic for 3 and ½ years. He has special interests in Cardiovascular Disease and Infectious Disease. He and wife Lucy have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Dr Martin enjoys fishing and playing classical music on the piano.
