Tips on how to celebrate Mother's Day during COVID-19

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, and depending on where you live, things are either just beginning to slowly open back up or are still closed off in quarantine.

To make it unique this year for your Mom, you may need to think outside the box. Luckily we’re here to help you out and share some great ideas to make this Mother’s Day special.

While things are lightening up regarding social distancing, we wanted to keep everybody safe and maintain a distance.

You’ve had your entire life to make grand plans for Mother’s day when you could go and visit her face to face. Here are a few ideas to keep you and your Mom safe this year and make it one to remember.

A Care Package with Care

It can be tough to get all the things you need for day-to-day life; sometimes, you forget about or don’t even think about picking up. On top of that, there are some things you aren’t willing to spend the money on due to life circumstances.

Put some ease into your Mom’s life by putting together a lovely care package for her. Whether you put it into a woven wicker basket or a cardboard box, you can piece together a handful of items that you feel she needs or will enjoy. Make it look nice and leave it on her doorstep for her to find.

What’s Mom’s Favorite Food?

Some of us may take the time on Mother’s Day to make your Mom a home-cooked meal; seeing as that’s a little more difficult this year, we wanted to suggest a friendly alternative.

Most restaurants have some form of delivery right now or can be utilized by services like DoorDash. Find your Mom’s favorite restaurant, or even something a little fancy if she’d like it. Set up a video chat with your Mom about the time it should be delivered to see her surprise. Maybe let dad know what your planning so he can help coordinate things.

Fun and Games with Mom

This one will take a little more planning and work, but it will be something that will be memorable for years to come and might be a new tradition for future years.

Once you plan out the clues and what the ultimate prize will be in the end, you can sneak over Sunday morning or even Saturday night to set up a Scavenger hunt in/around your Mother’s home.

See Mom Face-to-Face

Nothing quite feels the same during these family love holidays without seeing your Mom and having a chat. Give her a call through any of the many video chat services now available and take some time to share how much you love her.

You could do many different things this year to make Mother’s Day special; these are but a few ideas. Only you know what would make the day special, so it’s ultimately up to you to make it happen.

Nothing entirely replaces the hugs and kisses from her children and family, but it’s the thought that counts when you need to keep a distance.
